Born and raised in a family noted for it's
artistic and musical talents, Philip Colgan's proclivity
for art has been present throughout his life. His accuracy
in achieving a good likeness culminated in a first portrait
commission at age 12.
Philip Colgan attended the York Academy of
Arts and refined his painting skills through a comprehensive
study of the Old Masters in western Europe.
Opening his own studio in 1982 in his hometown
area of Hanover, Pa., he began teaching art classes, doing
restoration work, publishing his own fine art works in
reproductions and accepting portrait commissions. His
works have been shown in many national competitions and
exhibited in galleries coast to coast in the US and Canada.
